John Bendon is proud to be at the forefront of the green building movement in Hawaii. A passion for ocean activities and the desire to raise a family in Hawaii brought John to the islands. Since his return, Bendon has accomplished a number of “firsts” in the green building field. From working on the first LEED Homes project in the State and first LEED school project on Maui, to being the first green building industry “Green Rater” and “HERS rater” on Maui and first round of LEED Homes AP’s in the State, John is pushing the green envelope in all directions.
As the previous Vice Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council, Hawaii Chapter, Bendon works to promote ecological stewardship and leadership across the building industry, as well as to bring more educational opportunities to Hawaii.
The Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative calls for dramatic increases in energy efficiencies in the coming years. Building for sustainability is an exciting and constantly evolving field. Bendon’s company, Green Building LLC, values continuous education in the industry. They are proud to have excellent relationships with strategic partners including the US Green Building Council, Hawaii Chapter, and the colleges throughout the University of Hawaii.
Bendon presents about green building and energy efficiency at numerous conferences throughout the year.
